The Kimblewick comes by Trust and has a jointed standard mouthpiece with the special Sweet Iron alloy. As soon as the mouthpiece comes into contact with moisture, the alloy oxidises and forms surface rust. This rust tastes sweet to most horses, so the mouthpiece is very well received and accepted. In addition, the rust naturally stimulates saliva production and chewing activity. The Kimblewick side piece is a type of jumping curb bit with a milder action and is ridden with a rein. With the Kimblewick, the rider can determine how much leverage the bit should have. The further down the rein is placed, the stronger the leverage and the sharper the bit becomes.
Note: When not in use a thin orange-brown layer of rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
